Hi,

The previous versions of the software didn’t require the “Own” field to be numeric so I stored some additional info there. It appears that my data is now lost. Is there an important reason for that change to numeric?

Hi! We've looked into this, and there's an option to save your data. Check out this thread and respond there, please, to get that data downloaded. Thanks!

Likewise, if anyone was using the quantity fields to record extra data, please check out the thread linked above.

Just a friendly reminder here to everyone posting their issues -- you must be courteous and polite. We're all volunteers here and doing this on our own time. Being rude or upset will get you nowhere. We've been pleased with how many friendly responses and questions have been posted, but there's no need for anyone to get snippy here. We're working to fix all issues as quickly as possible, but with a software change as large as this, it's inevitable that the learning curve will take a little while -- not to mention a few bugs here and there that need fixing.

Thanks to everyone who has been so kind and patient. We're working through all the issues as quickly as possible.

Hey Admins and Technical support:  I’m sorry I was rude to you guys.  While I am stuck in hospital, it’s no excuse to be grumpy and cranky.  The new site is truly amazing , I just get frustrated.   Y’all do an awesome job of answering everyone and a terrific job of fixing glitches.  So again, I apologize to all of you.

It's pin #77317:

I found it by searching for "alice wonderland golf" and including the description: https://pinpics.com/pins/?filter_name=alice wonderland golf&filter_description=1

The title includes only the name Alice in it, that's why it didn't come up unless the description is included. The title can certainly be improved to return more results when not searching also the descriptions.

The search in this new version should be more accurate but will return fewer results unless the pin data is properly entered.

Can I ask you some examples of what you tried searching? We're still improving it based on feedback.

This is an oversight. I'll display the buttons for the comparison & filters at the top on mobile for the next update.

I searched Alice Croquet since that’s what they are playing.  Then I tried Alice Flamingo, Alice Hedgehog, Flamingo and Hedgehog.  I would have never thought to search for golf.  That was great thinking of your part.  Thank you very much for finding it for me.  Great job!!!

@swim2sea Sometimes you have to think outside the box. By fixing the title it should be easier to find now. I did leave golf as a keyword in case someone else needs it.

No worries, I searched for golf completely by chance because that's what came to mind first. The correct word should indeed have been croquet. 😅

Thankfully @Dragon57 jumped in and fixed up the pin with the correct data.

This is another search issue I've had.  Both in the old version and it continues in the new version.

There have been a DLR Series, and two different WDW series that have included the words "Remember When" Examples from one each of the three series are:

PP51663

PP53710

PP96575

The words are in the title, but when you search "Remember When" or "When" you get 0 results.

We've got this fixed now, so if you experience an issue again, please let me know! It should be working.

Working like a champ, thank you 🙂

@hopemax We will have to do more research to find out why this is happening. It is very puzzling.

Regarding the question about searching for "remember when"

Just a guess but I there may be something in the search parameters that automatically omit the words like "who" and "when"

When you search on "remember" you get 107 results

When you search on "remember when" or "remember who" you get 0 results. (Both of these are in dozens of pin descriptions, like her examples" but do not come up in the results.

When you search on "remember me" you get 17 results

When you search on "remember dreams" you get 3 results.

But when you seach on "when" you get 0 results. (I think this is blocked by the search parameters"

also...when you search on "who" you don't get any results with "who", but you do get results like "Whole", "Whoa", "Whoosh" and "Whoom

I can shed some light on the issue: the word WHEN is a MySQL stopword, which means it cannot be used in a search query. There are only 36 stopwords, and when any is used you'll get no results.

I'll see about adding a warning when one of these words is used and remove it from the search. This is unfortunately not something I can "fix" because it's not "broken" technically.

How do I remove a pin that I've traded from my dashboard. I keep trying to enter 0 or use the down arrow and it keeps saying something like unknown value and keeps them at 1

Never mind, I played around a little and figured it out tapping on the colored icons next to the boxes with the numbers.  Old dog here, learning new tricks!

You were so quick figuring it out that I didn't have a chance to answer! :scoop: Don't feel bad asking, though. It's a lot of change, so it's no surprise that we'll all need to get used to new tricks!

I liked the search engine on the previous site because you could add things like a color, direction character is facing. but now one gets zero hits when you say, for example, Daisy pink and white.  Or Mickey hands, or Minnie yellow shoes.  With 3-4K pages to look through or even a few hundred, you might not find the pin you are seeking quickly.  One could spend hours and hours trying to find a pin you might have and want to learn more about it.  Also, the old site had comments about the difference one might find between a "real" pin versus a "fake" pin.  For example, I was looking for a Figment pin with the word Grateful.  This one actually had a comment that the good one would have yellow eyes and not green eyes.  It is these comments that are helpful to pin collectors.

Hi @ChristieT Which old PinPics site are you referring to....the one we just upgraded from? Or the one we upgraded from the "OLD OLD" site in March of 2023. Here in this search you just need to put in Minnie yellow shoes and ask the search engine to Include Description. You should put in more information like the year, the origin, the limited edition number and that will narrow it down for you. On a lot of the listings where the "real" vs "fake" information was put in - all that info is still there. We are working on something else to help in the real vs fake arena.

Hope this helps!

When I export from my dashboard (for example export my “want” tab to PDF) it used to automatically put the pins I toggled on “grail” for at the top of the list in the PDF, I’m seeing it no longer does that. I used that feature to keep my most wanted pins at the top. Is there a new way to do that? I’m only seeing sort by oldest to newest or vise versa. Thanks!

@Zizale Currently the grails have a gold colored font and pins are listed in numeric order. I believe this feature for grails will be in a future update.

Thanks for pointing this out! Yes, the Grail pins were kept at the top in the previous version. We'll get that fixed up here so that it starts happening again!

I might have missed or over looked where it might have been addressed but, In the pin filter area of the site which shows up on the side of the database. there used to be two drop down bars which are no longer there, the "character" and "Movie" drop downs are no longer there. I cant speak for everyone but I used them a lot when looking up obscure names of characters or to display all the pins related to selected movies.

Have these areas moved? or is there any possibility these drop downs will be brought back?

thank you

I'm enjoying exploring the upgraded site so far...

Suggestion:  if a pin is part of a set, it would be helpful to have the other pins in that set show in the 'linked pins' section below a pin's info.

Example:  PP 30362 AiW pin set should show 28869, 29758, 44838, 62699, & 62700 in the linked pins section.

Another example:  PP 28869 (part of set 30362) shows similar pins from another pin set (set = 2321 / pins 33729, 33844, 33845).

Would it be helpful to have a 'linked pins' section, and perhaps a 'similar pins' section as well?

I know there are a lot of 'similar' pins - it can be a little bit of a challenge to find / identify an exact pin that we have recently traded or purchased.  If a similar pin is found during a search, looking at the 'similar pins' section may help identify the pin being searched.  Hope that makes sense...

On a separate note - I'm glad there's a 'suggest changes' on each pin / set listing.  It's easy to add a comment for the site moderators to review.  I have done this a few times - thank you for taking the comments into account and updating the pin info as needed.

@tinkrocks Yes we are linking pins when they are a set. It is taking a little time to complete this task as there are a lot of pins that are not linked.

Here is an example of how the linked pins look.

@Dragon57 - thank you.  I kinda figured that the linked pins are a work in progress….  Awesome work!

Hi! Actually, those two boxes have been removed as they were working on an antiquated system. They were linked to some prefilled lists of characters and films, but they only worked for the data as exactly included in the old lists. Because of that, those brought up only a portion of results and skipped some names entirely. We've been working (and still continue to work) at getting titles fixed across the database to include the character names and film names relating to the pins, so just type those into the search bar in future with your search terms.

If you need any help, just let us know!
