TheTwins Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Came across this pin at a flea market in Florida, and thanks to help from a couple friends, we were able to figure out what it is! Since this is from the very early days of Disney Pins, I thought it'd be cool to feature here. It's quite an unassuming little pin being a flat piece of gold-colored brass that has a lithograph design covered in a thin dome of epoxy. If you're into the early Millennium pins, then this gem is for you! The original background design was white with faded Olympic-style dancers in light grey. Over that is printed the Walt Disney World 2000 logo in bright blue, green, yellow and red tones. Over time these pins have yellowed, as do all epoxy-domed pins, but it adds to their vintage feel! Released in 2000, these were originally given out (in a lucite box) to a VIP group at EPCOT by then President George Kalogridis during a banquet function. They weren't handed out to cast members as cast-exclusive pins. But after the event, leftover pins were were turning up for trading on cast lanyards. At the time, the public referred to this as "the Mickey Confetti Head pin", and by cast members as "the George Kalogridis pin". If anyone else remembers this pin and has something to add, please reply here! And if you want to check out the PinPics listing to see about adding this to your collection, here's the link: 5 Quote
