Recommendations for cleaning pins?

I have a pin that has a bit of dirt in the textured part  (the gold D section on PP 53306).  I tried using a microfiber cloth, which helped somewhat, but there's still some residue around the D.

 

Any recommendations on how to safely / gently remove dirt?

I use a very, very slightly damp q tip.
