TheTwins Posted March 25 Posted March 25 There have been so many pins released over the years that it's impossible to stay on top of them all! But that's part of the fun in this hobby, because there's always something to discover and add to the collection (or your "wants" list). A few months ago, when we were down in Florida, we acquired a pin we'd never seen before. It was a "Buckle Up" pin and released in 2000, and I actually wore it on my lanyard through Disney for days as a trader. Lots of people commented on it and thought it was unique, but it just stayed there looking spiffy. It wasn't until last week that I remembered it and decided to look it up in the database to add it to our "trades" list. Sis and I had assumed that the pin was from an old ad campaign or something that encouraged kids to wear their seatbelts. Those were so common back then and seemed like something Disney would have done. What we didn't know was that the pin is a mini version of the large signs that were on various edges of the WDW property during the first decade of the 2000s! I was even able to find this neat picture online that shows one from back in 2010. This is what I love about pins. Not only are they fun to trade and collect, but you can learn so much about things that might be overlooked or forgotten. We never had the opportunity to see these signs in real life, but it's been great learning about this piece of Disney history . . . and all because we came across a pin! (If you liked these signs, I definitely encourage you to check out the pin! It's a super-nice, quality piece.) Over the years, there have been a lot of pins made of Disney signs. Even a current monthly series features WDW restaurant signs. If you have a fun story to go with a sign pin, or a sign pin that you just love for some reason, please share them here! 2 Quote
