StarkWurks Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I know that my version of this pin is authentic and shows a similar border on the pin in the database PP170570. The waffle head Mickey pattern has a visible boarder while most authentic pins with this backing do not. And I am positive mine is authentic since it was purchased in the park. I have seen reviews of pins in these forums that declare pins as fakes because of this type border found on the backs of pins. What am I missing? How many other authentic pins might have boarders in the backing design. Is it really a 100% rule that authentic pins do NOT have that boarder? Rhetorical question since I am showing an authentic pin with a border. Just looking for some community thoughts. Quote
Solution Dragon57 Posted September 3 Solution Posted September 3 @StarkWurks Before 2020 the hard rule people were using if it had a boarder then it must fake. Since 2020 (Pandemic) and currently Disney's quality has gone down a bit and some authentic pins do indeed have boarders. Several sets of Hidden Disney (aka Hidden Mickey) have boarders and are noted in the descriptions that the Mickey-head waffle pattern does not got to the edge of the pin (hence a boarder). 1 Quote
StarkWurks Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 And the saddest part of that truth is it's the quality of the authentic pins going down and not the quality of the fakes getting better. Or maybe both! Just glad it's not me going crazy...much. Thanks for the info. 1 Quote
