WOW - Did this just happen?

I'm wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them.  I pulled a pin from my book and as I was packaging it up, the post fell off.  It didn't break, it just fell off.  Of course it landed in the carpet and I can't find it, but has this ever happened to anyone else and what did you do to fix it.  I don't really see a way to fix it since glues don't hold if you put the pin in a book.  Thanks for any help.

Hi, Margaret @swim2sea! So sorry to hear this. The best way to locate the missing post in the carpet is a magnet. Is it one of the old-style posts on a tack with a barb? Or one of the newer style posts that gets wobbly?

If they are the newer type of post and they break off completely, we haven't found a way to fix that. If they are just wobbly, Sis has had great success with using super glue at the base -- and they can even stay in a book.

If it is the older style post on a tack base, then super glue will attach it back on as good as new. You won't have to worry.

Hope you find it!

I found it, but I’m not sure glue will hold it very long. I’m going to ask Jess to see if she can recommend a glue that holds it long term. It looks like the pin wasn’t properly prepared before the post was applied.

Well, several hours later, there is no way to reattach the post. Tom is an excellent repairman but he is frustrated.  I’m just going to mark it up to bad luck and a cheap pin. (Not Disney but a PALM pin).  It will become a very nice magnet for my garage refrigerator.

Depending on the pin, you could check with a local jeweler to see if they have any ideas.
