AshasRoyalWish Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) I love vintage pins that remind me of my younger days at Disney, and I collect pins that remind me of favorite rides/experiences that bring back memories of previous Disney trips. I don’t look for high value, hidden Mickey, chasers, although I am obsessed with Club 33, and I don’t collect a particular character, except I love the Countdown to the Millenium set and 100 years of Dreams set. I also love Minnies Main attraction from 2020 since we were there when the parks closed for COVID. I think it’s fun to collect full sets, I like to have a goal, so currently I’m trying to complete those full sets right now, but I also like finding other pins that spark memories for me. Here are some of my favorite boards. Edited January 24 by AshasRoyalWish 2 Quote
TheTwins Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Those are some fabulously fun pins you have! What great collections. Those Minnie Main Attraction sets were so hard to get in their day. I remember us sitting here trying to get the Tiki Room set when it came out. Thankfully, we did! They're very nice pins. So, two of the pins on your board here caught my eye. That Belle head is a fabulous early pin. Which version is it? There are four, and here's a link to show them: https://pinpics.com/pins/?filter_name=1326 That is the pin that got me started on learning about the real-cloisonne pins and really diving into the vintage pre-trading pins. I love that she looks so classic, like the 1990s art, before they updated the princesses. And the little Snow White pin is lots of fun, being one of the VHS release pins. I did a post about that set and some of the other VHS pins, in case you haven't seen them all! Thanks so much for sharing your collections! Sarah Quote
AshasRoyalWish Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 (edited) This real- Cloisonné Belle pin is PP180971 Real Cloisonné Version 1- It is one of the first trades I made after I joined pin pics with one of my favorite traders and it is also the reason I collect vintage pins/love real cloisonné pins so much. These pins are made so nicely and I am in love with the detail and style and look of the pin. I was born in Dec 1983 and I remember the plastic Disney VHSs and I remember seeing The Little Mermaid and The Lion King and Aladdin and all the classic Disney movies for the first time and is one of the main reason I collect these vintage pins because it reminds me of my childhood (and also because I am obsessed with Disney princesses). I am embarrassed to say I didn’t know Disney pin trading was a thing until March of last year , I thought the pins and lanyards were souvenirs for kids to get on their trips. As soon as I noticed these vintage pins I immediately became obsessed with collecting as many as possible because I just keep thinking how many I have missed out on over all my years at Disney. This is why I love the 2000 and 2001 sets so much. To me these pins are so much more valuable than a limited edition pin or a hidden Mickey chaser so that is why I think I have such a hard time figuring out what are equal value trades. I’ve found some people trade based on what they collect and some are serious traders based on pin value (chaser for chaser). I trade based on what means the most to me sentimentally. However, I tryto make sure the trade is even based off of pin value so it is fair to others as well (from what I know about pin value). I read on pin pics that the 2020 main attraction pins were quite hard to get back during that time. I enjoy trying to trade different pins to collect the entire sets. The process of collect them is just as fun as completing the entire set. I love your story about the VHS pins and the fun memories it brings you! Edited January 24 by AshasRoyalWish 1 Quote
