Front Description
One of a series of four DISNEY'S AROUND THE WORLD pins released at WDW's Main Street Cinema at Magic Kingdom in 2002. One week after their release, they were available across the WDW property. Each pin features a colorful enamel Mickey visiting a different Disney park from around the world and dressed in garb traditional to that country. Mickey is a pin-on-pin element in the lower-left corner. Inside the frame is a printed image of the park's castle under an epoxy dome. Written near the top is the name of the castle in the local language.
Released on 6 Apr 2002, this pin features a stylized Mickey Mouse in red Japanese garb. He's holding a paint brush and an artist's palette, appearing to have painted the colorful abstract castle painting (artwork by Eric Robison). Above the castle, the Japanese characters say "Cinderella's Castle" (shi-n-de-re-ra-no-o-shi-ro) and on the left side in the transparent purple background they say "Disney" (di-zu-nii).
[2002 archive: "These pins are part of the celebration for the opening of Disney's 'Around the World' shop, which debuted at the Main Street Cinema on March 8, 2002. This shop features merchandise and film footage from Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, along with preview merchandise from the in-development Hong Kong Disneyland Resort."]
