Front Description
Stunning pin of Ariel from the movie The Little Mermaid. This is a well made, thick pin. The light blue of Ariel's dress is glitter, whereas the dark blue is translucent. The pin is supposedly done in 18k gold metal plating and the eyes are screen-printed.
It is important to note that the photo shown is the AP version of the pin, in which the dress is a lighter and translucent color. Only 5 of these particular pins were produced, and 75 were produced in the final run with a different colored dress. This pin was only available by a direct trade with the maker, but has since been seen for sale on secondary markets. The later version of the pin, the LE 75 with a darker-blue dress, was also a trade-only pin.
The maker made this pin as part of their own "Designer Series" to mimic the Disney Princess Designer pins, but this is NOT a pin that Disney designed/authorized/manufactured. Ariel is designed to look like she is wearing the same dress as the Designer Couples Pin 97584, which is a real Disney pin. DO NOT GET THESE CONFUSED.
The AP version of the pin has a backstamp error and reads, "AP/150" (instead of AP/75). This mistake was corrected on the later run, which reads the number out of 75 (eg: xx/75). It also has a decorative backstamp that reads, "Limited Edition" and, "AVP" (the maker).
The pin is roughly the same size as a Disney Designer Princess pin, and 3 millimeters thick.
