Front Description
This pin is similar to pin number 1718, but much larger. It also comes with a paper coated tin, featuring name tags from the previous 40 years. This pin is an exact replica of the name tags/badges the original cast members wore in the early years of Disneyland. They did not have their names on them, they had numbers, as signified by 1955. This pin was released to cast members in the summer of 1995 to honor the 40th anniversary of Disneyland.
This solid brass pin has a broach style clasp and measures 1 3/4" tall by 2 1/2" wide. It is backstamped, "© Disney".
Backside of the pin tin reads:
"The Original Cast Member Badge
The enclosed badge, a replica of the original copper and brass badges worn by Cast Members from July 17, 1955 until 1962, has been created in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Disneyland. The original tags did not bear the Cast Member's name, but a number. After just seven years, plastic nametags replaced the metal badges, making them a part of Disneyland history. So rare are the original badges now that even the Walt Disney Archives does not have one."
