The Spirit of Disneyland pin is the highest honor a Disneyland Cast Member can earn (other than being named a Disney Legend). It is the counterpart to Walt Disney World's Partners In Excellence pin and is designed to adorn a Cast Members name badge. The Spirit awards come in small plastic boxes and this pin bears a © Disney on its reverse.
This particular piece is the 3rd tier of the Spirit of Disneyland award program, signified by the change in metal from a silver based pin to this gold version. If you have already received a 2nd Spirit of Disneyland Award (identical to this except silver, with a blue gemstone), you will receive this pin to signify that you have received a 3rd Spirit of Disneyland award.
It is unknown at this point if there is any higher level award in this program, possibly a gold version with a gemstone.
