Front Description
Released in 1987, this real-cloisonne pin features Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck playing fife and drum and holding the American flag in the classic colonial, revolutionary pose used by Disney during the 1976 Bicentennial celebration. Goofy's drum is a washtub, and he's using spoons instead of sticks. Donald is playing a red fife and wearing a yellow kerchief on his head. The colors and details change drastically on later versions.
[25 Mar 2000 comment: I acquired the pin at the 1987 Mouse Club/Disneyana Convention. This old pin was inspired by the front cover of the July 1939 issue of Mickey Mouse magazine. Gold-finished, patriotic pin. The back is waffle-finished with no markings.]
