Front Description
While I do not know the specific event associated with this pin I believe it was given out at April 12th and 13th, 1997 fete for Carl Barks held at the Walt Disney World Resort. The pin is limited to 250 and only 250 were admitted to that event which is why I believe this is where it originated. Carl Barks was the inventor of Scrooge McDuck and the man who drew the comic book adventures of Donald Duck, his nephews, and Uncle Scrooge back in the '40s,'50s and '60s. His artwork sells for the thousands of dollars. While originally a Disney employee (1935-1942), he then went to work for Western Publishing illustrating Donald Duck Comics from 1942-1966. After his official retirement in 1966 Barks continued his
famous family of Ducks, creating over 150 original
paintings that he was obliged to license through Disney as limited edition lithographs. The Carl Barks Studio is an independent firm which also was on hand at the Walt Disney World event to honor Mr. Barks and specializes in sales and reproductions of his portfolio of works. Mr.Barks passed away on 8/25/2000.
