Front Description
This Limited Release pin from Hong Kong Disneyland is part of an 8-part series featuring the seasons. The pin is fashioned after a hanging banner, including a gold twine hanger at the top. The banner depicts Mickey and Minnie sitting at a table, looking out the round window that has Cherry Blossom branches and writing. They appear to have a bowl of tangyuan, which is traditionally eaten at this time of year. The banner is a Free-D element, with deep red accents and reads "Hong Kong Disneyland" at the bottom.
Near the bottom of the banner are the Chinese characters "??", pronounced "dongzhì", which translate to "winter's extreme" (aka the winter solstice and longest night of the year). More specifically though, Dongzhì is the twenty-second solar term on the traditional East Asian Calendar, which divides the year into 24 solar terms based on the Suns longitude. This period of time corresponds to approximately December 21 - January 5 on the Gregorian Calendar. As mentioned above, tangyuan is traditionally eaten during Dongzhì.
