Front Description
One of twelve monthly CEREAL BOXES limited-edition pins released at both DL and WDW in 2020. These pins were available in the parks during January, February, and July-December. Due to Covid-19 shutdowns, the monthly release for April-June was moved to shopDisney.com. There was no release in March, when things had pretty much come to a standstill everywhere, so three pins were released in April and May in a catch-up move.
Each hinged pin looks like a cereal box themed after a different Disney character. When you open the pin, you see an epoxied printed image on the right side meant to look like cold cereal. At the bottom of this picture is a chain with a coordinated dangle "toy" on the end. When the pin is closed (round magnet on right side), you can let the dangle hang down or hide it inside the box. When open, the left side of the pin (back of the front) has a printed game like cereal boxes used to have. The backer card says SURPRISE TOY INSIDE EACH BOX! and Start your day the Disney way!. It also says GUARANTEED FRESH and GREAT TASTE!. In small letters at the bottom, it reads "Not actual cereal. Not an actual toy."
An orange bar long the top is divided into three sections, advertising that this cereal is “Filled with Bugs and Grubs | 10G of Spooky Spirits | Essential Pumpkin Spice.” Below this bar is a black background. “Oogie’s Boogies” is written out across the top with Oogie’s being tan-green and Boogies being red. Frightfully Yum... is directly under the name. Oogie himself is peeking in from the bottom left. His left arm is stretched out with a Jack-o-Lantern curled up in his grip. Silver (made with the base metal) bats flit along the background. Three orange tab-like boxes run along the bottom right that include the numbers for things like calories and such. These numbers include “10 | 13 | 93” which also doubles as October 13, 1993 which was the theatrical release date for Nightmare Before Christmas. A red banner to the left of these tabs states “Surprise Inside Box!” This “box” opens like a book and the dangle gimmick falls out with the red “skull dice” which have landed on “Snake Eyes” at the end of the chain. On the left of the open box is a classic cereal box game “Which pair of Oogie’s dice match?” with 6 set of dice (2 that match) embossed below the question. A photo print of a bag of cereal in the shape of bats is placed on the right.
