Twenty-four characters from the World of Disney were selected to be represented through symbols and colors on 24 different cloisonné pins. The individual pins could be “hung” as “ornaments” either on the pop up pin card Christmas Tree or with the aide of the attached black ribbon onto a Christmas Tree.
These pins were sold in a large case with 24 numbered drawers.
The pin that is dedicated to the animated film, Sleeping Beauty is inspired by none other then the self-proclaimed “Mistress of All Evil,” Maleficent and her faithful crow, Diablo. The ornament’s focal point is a green circle placed in the center, top half of the pin. This circle hints at the glowing off positioned atop Maleficent’s staff which she uses like a magic wand to direct her powers. Tucked behind the bottom of this circle is a dome-topped yellow “V” that looks like Diablo’s beak, complete with slits for nostrils. A larger “V” shape cuts across the center of the pin. The bottom portion of this shape is purple while the top is black to mimic Maleficent’s robes. Large black horns twist up from the implied robes, surrounding the green circle and stretching up past the top confines of the pin. Maleficent’s Magic often manifests through green flames which are included, licking in front and behind the rest of the ornament’s graphics.
