Twenty-four characters from the World of Disney were selected to be represented through symbols and colors on 24 different cloisonné pins. The individual pins could be “hung” as “ornaments” either on the pop up pin card Christmas Tree or with the aide of the attached black ribbon onto a Christmas Tree.
These pins were sold in a large case with 24 numbered drawers.
This wonderful pin is simply mad with curious characters from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. The design of this pin is cut in half. The ornament’s top half (bookended by a purple leaf on the left and a green leaf on the right) is dedicated to Alice and her friends. A blue tea cup is centered to represent Alice and her blue dress. Peaking out behind the cup on the left is the 10/6 card that the Mad Hatter is known for wearing in the band of his favorite hat. Three whit daisies with yellow centers, a favorite of Alice’s cat Dinah, are behind the teacup on the right. Below the collage of Wonderland Heroes is a border of roses that range in color from white to red to maroon. There is a second border below the roses as the bottom half continues to shift to represent Wonderland’s main meanie and her minions. This second border consists of a spread out deck of cards with the Ace of Hearts falling center. This provides a perfect transition to the Queen of Hearts herself. The far bottom section is designed to mimic the design of the Queen’s skirts. A black block of color is on the left and mirrored by a red block of color on the right. These color blocks have an edge of white. The center, just like the Queen’s skirts, have a yellow/black pattern divided in half so that the left pattern is yellow - black - yellow - black while the right is black - yellow - black -yellow.
