Front Description
Twenty-four characters from the World of Disney were selected to be represented through symbols and colors on 24 different cloisonné pins. The individual pins could be “hung” as “ornaments” either on the pop up pin card Christmas Tree or with the aide of the attached black ribbon onto a Christmas Tree.
These pins were sold in a large case with 24 numbered drawers.
The pin that honors the animated feature, Beauty and the Beast, takes colors and symbols that represent both Belle and Beast and merges these elements onto the ornament. • Belle is represented with the yellow color that is often associated with the yellow-gold gown that she wears in the iconic ballroom scene. The bodice of this dress even stretches out along the bottom half of the ornament. The yellow accents continue up the through the rest of this pin with yellow bunting along the top edge and a yellow ornament topper. Belle, being an avid reader, is also represented with an open book complete with a ribbon bookmark in the left side of the pin, above the bodice. • Beast is honored with the blue of his suit coat he wears in the ballroom scene being utilized as the base background color of the ornament. The Beast is often recognized for his castle full of enchanted objects. Two of these objects are not known for their personalities as they were never servants, but instead they are known as symbols of identifiable change and growth as well as symbols of outward expressions of love. On the far right, above the bodice is the gray Enchanted Mirror. This mirror allows the user to see anything desired. Beast presents it to Belle in trust to provide her a window to her father. This mirror was presumably originally given to the Beast by the Enchantress who transformed him and the castle. Although that item was likely given to the Beast by the Enchantress, there is no question that the Enchanted Rose was given to him as a reminder of the passage of time that he is imprisoned as The Beast as he watches the rose wilt away. This rose is featured front and center of this pin under its protective Bell Jar. Here on the pin the rose is plump and full of life and consequently love. Since it is full and not wilted, the rose in this shape is a representation of Belle’s and Beast’s symbols being fully merged.
