Twenty-four characters from the World of Disney were selected to be represented through symbols and colors on 24 different cloisonné pins. The individual pins could be “hung” as “ornaments” either on the pop up pin card Christmas Tree or with the aide of the attached black ribbon onto a real Christmas Tree.
These pins were sold in a large case with 24 numbered drawers.
The Genie is the feature character. Although the Genie of the Lamp is capable of shape-shifting, he generally prefers to maintain his iconic blue hue which is used as this ornament’s background color. The ornament topper is a copper color, much like the cuffs that bind Genie around the wrists to his lamp. A small black curl is under the topper, mimicking the one Genie wears on his chin. A thick red band wraps around the ornament referencing the sash Genie wears around his waist. Genie is not one to shy away from receiving accolades, so when he first meets Aladdin, a large neon light spelling out “Applause” blinks above him. That neon sign is replicated above the sash on this pin.
