Historic & Rare Cast Member Nautilus Operator's UNIFORM Pin; sturdy, pewter pin with old military style pin backs ... screws. A side profile of a fish's head is on both the left & right sides of the pin with each other's tails sticking out just beyond their faces. There is a rich burgundy background in the middle with the letter "N" centered in the circle and a few fin-like details framing the rest of the pin. The pin measures 2 3/4" X 1 3/4" This pin is EXTREMELY RARE PIN & a pride & joy for every Disney collector.
Retired in 1994 when the attraction officially closed -however no new ones were created after 1984 -when Disney switched to a costume patch emblem for the hat.
Be aware that boot-leg pins are making the rounds too...they are either silver or brass, not the pewter of the original pin. there is information from a former representative of Balfour (company that produced this badge for Disney) that the "silverish" badge is simply a different generation of the badge which was only used briefly. As far as he knows there was never a brass badge however.
