These pins can be used as stand-alone pins, but they were made by Disney to use with the event "Pin Holder" that was given away with each "Legendary or Epic Event Package purchase". They're called sliders because they slid into the pin holder, not because they have slider movements on them. Each box contained three random "slider" pins.
