Front Description
This Reedy Creek Fire Department metal badge was worn by personnel serving as firefighters in the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
The badge measures measures 56 mm (2 1/4") vertically and 35 mm (1 3/8") horizontally.
The badge features an eagle looking to the left at the top with "FIREMAN" in blue beneath this. The central circular portion has "REEDY CREEK FIRE DEPT." written in blue around the border with the fire department insignia at the centre, depicting many of the tools of the trade of the fire department.
This is estimated to date back to some time in the 1980's-1990s although exact dates are hard to nail down.
Reedy Creek Fire Department underwent a number of name changes, becoming Reedy Creek Fire Services and then Reedy Creek Emergency Services, and finally District Fire Services.
The "Reedy Creek" designation is now obsolete as the Florida Legislature had passed a bill abolishing the Reedy Creek Improvement District which occurred as of June 2023. This then became the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.
