Front Description
This 12-pin framed set was sold at EPCOT in the late 1990s. All pins are real cloisonne and date to 1997. The 11 World Showcase Flag Icons were originally released in 1997 but later available for individual purchase (which lasted for many years, with different backstamps). The "ta-da" Mickey (bottom center) was only available as part of this set. The wood frame measures 9-1/4 x 11-1/4 inches, the glass inside a standard 8x10". (This frame has been found with a sheet of acrylic instead of glass; we don't know which is original.) The area cut out of the mat for placement of the pins measures 5-7/8 x 7 inches. Two different Disney price tags (with different prices and SKUs) have been seen on the backs of these framed sets: the most common is 400109690322 for $85, the 400141151355 priced at $100 being much harder to find.
The pins have been placed, if read left to right and row by row, in the order you'd walk past the countries through the World Showcase area at EPCOT.
These pins should not be used with the linking feature, since they are already part of much-larger lists. Click on each of these hyperlinked country names to go to the pin's own PinPics page.
The EPCOT logo printed on the mat was in use from mid-1996 (until 2019), and the following comment shows that the set had already been forgotten by 2002. The real-cloisonne pins were originally released in 1997, so this framed set must have been sold shortly after that.
[April 2002 comment found on dizpins.com: Friends of the Dizpins Vast Research Department report that this pin was from a pin set for Epcot. In the set were each of the country's flags as the Mickey ears. And this pin, full-figure Mickey, with his arms outstretched in front of a blue Mickey-head icon, was a bonus that came with it. The mat around the 12 pins was light-gray and had the EPCOT symbol printed in red at the bottom.]
