Front Description
This Annual Member's pin from THE MOUSE CLUB days features the group's mascot (drawn by Disney Legend Ward Kimball), THE UNKNOWN MOUSE (almost called "The Unknown Rodent"). Created in 1979 (anonymously, of course) by Disney Legend Ward Kimball, the mascot with the large paper bag on his head was a thinly disguised Mickey Mouse (including the old "pie eyes"). The Sherlock Holmes costume was a nod to the fact that club members were always in search of any and all Disney collectibles. The Mouse Club held conventions in Anaheim, California, from 1982 through 1992, and published 69 newsletters for its members.
In September 1986, another Disney Legend, Ken Anderson, added the black arms and white-gloved hands to the mascot. That dates this pin to somewhere between then and 1993 (when The Mouse Club ceased to exist). There were two different versions of this pin, the variation being in coloring. The art was the same, with THE MOUSE CLUB written at the top of the pin and "get Disneyized" at the bottom. The epoxy coating has yellowed with age.
This pin features "The Unknown Mouse" wearing a brown bag on his head, with the TMC logo done in red letters and "Disneyized" in black.
