PP179403    WDW - USA - Version 2 - EPCOT World Showcase Flag Icon Series

One of the 11 real-cloisonne pins from the WORLD SHOWCASE MICKEY-ICON FLAGS Framed Set, released in WDW in the late 1990s, representing the different countries found in the WDW EPCOT World Showcase pavilions. Pins in the framed set were plated with real silver, rather than the standard nickel used for the rack versions. The real-silver plating means that tarnish is possible. (The pin in this photo has been recently cleaned.) These pins were made with a clear coating which is easily removed by cleaning or scratching. (The removal does not affect the beauty or quality of the pin, though. It was an attempt to prevent tarnish on the silver plating.) The 11 flag pins in this framed set are a lower quality than the open-edition rack pins in the same style. The enamel can have dips, and they're slightly thinner than the rack versions.

This pin features the flag of the United States of America (USA). One-third of the pin is blue with seven white stars or parts of a star. Two-thirds of it features red-and-white stripes (four red, three white).

This pin listing is for the real-cloisonne version with these measurements, this backstamp, and real silver plating. There are separate listings for the other versions of this World Showcase pin. However, this design has been released (and faked) many times through the years, in other sizes and with different backstamps. Please carefully check the dimensions and back of your pin before cataloguing. There may be slight differences in the number of stripes and stars, so look closely at your pin.
