Front Description
This pin was awarded for 5 years of service as an employee of the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) and features a single black gem. Backstamp indicates the pin is 10k gold.
The 5-year pin features the silhouette of the old RCID logo (prior to the logo being updated) in gold on a black background.
The Reedy Creek Improvement District previously existed as the governmental arm of the Walt Disney World Resort. Walt Disney previously petitioned the Florida State Legislature for the creation of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which had almost total autonomy within its borders. Chapter 67-764[1] of the Laws of Florida was signed into law by Governor Claude R. Kirk, Jr. on May 12, 1967, creating the District. On the same day, Governor Kirk also signed the incorporation acts for two cities inside the District: Bay Lake (Chapter 67-1104) and Reedy Creek (Chapter 67-1965). (The City of Reedy Creek was renamed to the City of Lake Buena Vista around 1970.) The "Reedy Creek" designation is now obsolete as the Florida Legislature had passed a bill abolishing the Reedy Creek Improvement District which occurred as of June 2023. This then became the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.
