Front Description
This unreleased prototype pin from WDI features the head of the J4-K3 (AKA Jake) droid that was tested in Disneyland prior to the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Jake was fully autonomous, not requiring any puppeteers or handlers. Instead, he used cameras and sensors to identify space, guests, and other obstacles, while self-dictating his movements. The three-foot tall droid was seen in 2016 outside of Star Wars Launch Bay in Disneyland and was periodically tested, roaming through the crowds. Jake also appeared as part of the exhibit at the Disney Parks and Resorts Pavilion at the D23 EXPO in 2017. In October 2017, Jake spent one week roaming through Tomorrowland at Disneyland. While it was speculated that he might be a regular character in Galaxy's Edge, it was officially released in 2019 that Jake was simply a prototype and was not deemed viable (due to lack of durability and reliability).
