Beginning in April 2005, the STAR WARS: EPISODE III OFFICIAL 2005 PIN COLLECTION promotion ran in different cities in Canada (4) and the UK (2). Newspapers carried a coupon good at participating retailers, which allowed you to purchase the pin-of-the-day. (Coupons for the collector's album and missed pins were also run periodically during the promotion.) Each location had a different set of pins featuring characters from the six STAR WARS films (three originals and three prequels). Beginning on 8 May 2005, three Australian states ran this promotion, with Tasmania and New South Wales featuring a collection of 15 pins and an album, and Queensland featuring a collection of 20 pins and a slightly different album. The backer cards and pin numbers on this collection vary, each periodical having its own. Without the backer cards, it's impossible to tell which city the pins came from, since they're the same front and back.

This is one of 20 pins from the AUSTRALIAN promotion which ran in the Tasmanian Mercury, New South Wales Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, and the Queensland Courier Mail and Queensland Sunday Mail. In Queensland, the Darth Vader pin was free with the collector's album. In Tasmania and NSW, the Luke Skywalker pin was free with the collector's album. Each of the other pins cost $2 with the coupon. Each pin features a lenticular portrait of a different character, showing them from two of their Star Wars films. The holographic image is surrounded by a pewter border, with the STAR WARS logo at the top and the character's name along the bottom.
