PP2627    Gold Monorail Pilot Wings

Front Description

These Monorail Pilot Wings are gold with red, white, and blue paint for accent. Has an old "D" logo with what looks like the castle in the center of the D. The word "Monorail" is painted in blue and below it are red and white stripes. These wings look a lot older than the silver Walt Disney World Monorail Wings that are listed on PinPics. There are two versions of this. This was what the original Disneyland monorail wings looked like in 1959. They only used this style for one year. These, however, appear to be a replica. In 1999 Disneyland released a Limited Edition replica of these wings in an Edition size of 150. The back says this on it. The original wings are larger and have two twist backs, not pin ones as these appear to be.

This pin is from a special event at the Disney Gallery on 04/10/99 celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Disneyland Monorail. Guests who purchased a LE 150 lithograph also received this LE 150 replica which served as your exclusive ticket for a special Monorail ride with Imagineer Bob Gurr.
