The African Dancer is one of 10 pins found in the "Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom" 50th Anniversary Commemorative Boxed Set (#19193) released to honor the 1953 short film seen in school music classrooms for decades.

 

The African Dancer is in the "Boom" portion of the film, showing the development of rhythm instruments. It is a black and white pin with tribesman in ceremonial garb, holding a shield in his right hand and a spear in his left. He wears a horned face mask and is dancing on logs of various sizes to make the music. His arms are hinged, allowing them to raise and lower.

 

The pin measures 1 1/8" (29 mm) wide by 1 3/8" (35 mm) tall.
