PP29992    Disney Catalog - Mickey Mouse - Military Insignia

Front Description

During World War II, The Walt Disney Studio was swamped with requests from the military to use Disney characters in creating distinctive unit insignia. Over a five-year period, the Studio contributed over 1,200 designs to the war effort. Disney presents part of a relatively forgotten body of Disney art that helped boost morale during the war years.

This pin depicts Mickey Mouse standing in front of blueprints of airplanes, holding a propeller in his left hand and a wrench in his right hand. At the top of the pins are the words "Aircraft Worker" and on the bottom of the pins are the words "Building Planes for Victory".
