Front Description
This jumbo pin celebrates the St. Louis Olympics of 1904. It shows in three circle across the bottom of the pin Donald Duck boxing, his nephews Louie and Dewey wrestling and Goofy as a classic Greek Olympian. In the middle of the pin is a statue of an Olympian on a horse. Pin will be individually numbered. This pin measures 3 3/4" tall by 4" wide.
The pin commemorates the "firsts" for the 1904 Olympics. This was the 1st Olympic games to introduce boxing and wrestling. It was also the first Olympics to award Gold, Silver, and Bronze metals, thus the pin is made up of gold, silver and bronze-colored base metal. The statue in the background is the statue of St Louis, which was the symbol of the city until the St Louis Arch became the official symbol. This statue still stands in front of the Art museum in Forest Park.
