Front Description
One of five pins from a boxed set which was given away in 2002 as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration (Thanks 100) of the Dai-ichi Life Insurance company in Japan. Each hexagonal pin features a different character from an early animated Disney short. Printed above and below the character (in red) are the cartoon's release year and name. The set came in a plastic box with a removable lid (similar to the way they often sell playing cards) on a red insert. Printed on the box lid (in white) are DAI-ICHI LIFE and their THANKS 100 anniversary logo. These are printed pins (no enamel) with an epoxy coating which has yellowed with time.
This pin features DIPPY DAWG, later GOOFY, as seen in Disney's 1932 "Mickey's Revue".
Characters include Mickey (Steamboat Willie 1928), Minnie (Steamboat Willie 1928), Pluto (The Chain Gang 1930), Dippy Dawg* (Mickey's Revue 1932), and Donald Duck (The Wise Little Hen 1934) *Dippy Dawg later evolved into Goofy.
Pin measures 1-1/2 x 1-5/8 inches.
