Statue design information: JEFF CONINE First joined the Florida Marlins® baseball team in the 1993 draft, becoming the Marlins' representative in the 1994 All-Star Game®. In 1995, he was named All-Star MVP®. One of only two original Marlins remaining when the team won the 1997 World Series®, Jeff was traded back to the Kansas City Royals®, and then moved to the Baltimore Orioles® where his "red-hot" bat earned him the Most Valuable Oriole® in 2001. He returned to the Marlins to play left field in their successful bid for the 2003 World Series®. Also a world-class racquetall player, Jeff and his wife Cindy won the 1993 and 1999 U.S. National Racquetball Dougles Championships. Together they have founded the Conine All-Star Classic, a celebrity golf tournament, which raises money for the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.
Jeff pays tribute to Mickey and his friends in "Family Tree," which shows Mickey's unique "family" connection to all his friends.
