This Limited Edition Surprise pin celebrates the original Disneyland® Resort monorail - the Mark I. Originally opened on June 14, 1959, it was the first daily operating monorail in the United States. This spinner pin features Monorail Red. At the time of its opening, the monorail was considered a Tomorrowland® Attraction in Disneyland® Park. Walt Disney and then Vice President Richard Nixon were on hand to dedicate this "highway in the sky." The pin was designed by Dawn Ockstadt from Disney Design Group.
Round pin with a red background. Monorail Red spins around the pin. In the center of the pin are gold pilot's wings which reads "Disneyland Monorail" and the Disneyland "D" is at the top which is pin-on-pin. Under that on a blue background reads "Mark I" in white text. Under that on a white background is "1959" in blue text.
