Front Description
This pin is part of a six pin commemorative set celebrating Donald's 70th birthday titled, "Donald Duck Through the Years Boxed Pin Set". This pin is a recreation of a Donald Duck Squeaker Bill hat. The large bill on the hat would 'squeak' when squeezed. Squeaker Bill hats were sold at Disney starting in the 1950's. The hats were manufactured by the Benay-Albee Novelty Company which introduced the Mickey Mouse ear hats for sale at Disneyland. The hats were patterned after those designed by Roy Williams and worn by the Mouseketeers on the Mickey Mouse Club television show. During the 1950s, along with the Davy Crockett coonskin caps, these were the preferred item of headwear for kids throughout America.
Pin measures 1-3/4 x 1 inch. The pin set was sold in a black wooden box.
Pins in set: Comics and Stories, Squeaker Bill hat, Walt Disney Presents TV show, WW II Cartoon head, Bread, /Silly Symphony Wise Little Hen.
