Front Description
Astronaut Pluto goes to great lengths to discover the perfect hiding place for a bone in this handsomely matted and framed presentation of six production elements that tell the story behind the production of a previously released Disney Auctions pin (LE 100).
The highlights of the pin production process, represented here from left to right, are:
1. The engraved image of the pin artwork stamped onto a piece of brass;
2. A clean-cut version of the base pin, the result of various molds being made to refine the pin's perimeter;
3. A version on which each color is applied by hand, then baked to set the color (this step is repeated after the application of each color);
4. A version on which all the colors have been added, which is then baked in a kiln to set all the colors permanently;
5. A polished, buffed version of the pin on which the various colors are smoothed out and their borders more clearly defined; and
6. The final version of the pin, which is plated with a gold finish.
Based on original illustrations created during the development of a commemorative stamp series, the Disney Astronaut collection is a Disney Auctions exclusive. Pluto is shown in a space suit and digging a hole on the surface of the moon. He is holding his bone in his mouth inside of his space helmet.
The frame measures 16" tall by 19 3/4" wide by 3/4" deep.
The final version of this pin is (#29431).
