Front Description
This round button reads "the Pirates are Coming" in red letters at top of button. At bottom of button the pin reads in black letters "Walt Disney World". In the center of the button is a pirate laughing; it just shows his head. The pirate has his eyes closed, has 4 white teeth, and shows his pinkish tongue. His head scarf is red and his hat is black with a white skull and crossbones on it. To the right of the pirate's face it says in small black lettering (c)Walt Disney Productions. Button is approximately 2 1/4 inches in diameter.
This button was released to Cast Members at WDW in 1972 to let guests know that they (WDW) would in fact be getting their own Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. The ride was not originally planned for the park but after many guest complaints management thought it a good idea to get their own Pirates ride.
