Japan DS Happy New Year 2006 Box set of 2 pins.
Mickey & Minnie Mouse: Minnie has pink flowers on her head and is wearing red, white, yellow kimono Mickey is wearing red & blue kimono, there is a pastel fan(?) on a spring next to Minnie's head.
Donald & Daisy Duck: Daisy is wearing red, blue, & black. Pastel fan on a spring next to her head. Donald is wearing purple black and red. Gold finished. Each pin size approx: 1 3/4" x 1" Box is black with Red Happy New Year 2006 written on front with pink flowers. Pins are on floral backing with yellow mickey icons.
This design came from one of Japanese traditional new year, it is "Hane-tsuki". "Hane-tsuki" is the typical play of Japanese children (especially girls) in the New Year. This custom was ordinary until 1970's. "Hane-tsuki" is a game like badminton. In badminton, you use a racket, in "Hane-tsuki", you use a "Hagoita". In badminton, you use a shuttle, in "Hane-tsuki", you use a "Hane". "Hane" is made from a kind of nut and beautiful feathers of birds. In these pins, each base of the pin was designed like "Hagoita". "Pastel fan" resembles "Hane".
