Press pin issued on 4/4/92 for the pre-opening of the IBM sponsored Star Tours attraction at EuroDisney. Opening date for the public was 4/12/1992.
Rectangular with royal blue background and gold edge. Top half has the Star Tours logo and bottom half has the IBM logo and date "4/4/1992" all in gold lettering. Words are surrounded by yellow planets and gold moons and stars.
This pin measures 1 1/16" square and is identical to pin 5939 except the color of the planets is yellow instead of orange.
Reverse is stamped "©IBM" and "©Disney/Lucasfilms Ltd".
This pin, as with many other Euro Disney sponser pins, was given out prior to the official opening of EuroDisney. During the two weeks prior to the April 12, 1992 opening, guests of the sponsers (such as Coca-Cola, Kodak, etc) were invited to visit the park and enjoy the attractions. These special days were usually accompanied by a ceremony with a small show dedicating the sponser's attraction. These pins were handed out to the guests and were never sold.
Star Tours was inspired by Star Wars.
