Front Description
This vintage clasp-back pin features the Florida Citrus Growers' Orange Bird. Originally, when folks exited the Tiki Bird Tropical Serenade, they ended up by the Sunshine Tree Terrace where Guests could stop for a cool dessert and a visit from none other than the Orange Bird himself.
The terrace was a bar style location serving up slushes and drinks complete with a mock tree inside offering a perch to a "scaled down" Orange Bird. The three million dollar pavilion was sponsored by the Florida Citrus Growers. The entertainment for that day included a visit to the Tikiroom and an outdoor performance by Anita Bryant.
For this pin, the Orange Bird stands facing forward, it's green-leaf wings extended to the sides, pointing slightly up on the right side and slightly down on the left. The Orange Bird has an orange body with yellow beak, feet and chest, leafy hair and a green leaf tail.
The pin looks a little bit like (#1011), but is larger and is posed slightly differently.
This pin measures just under 1" (23 mm) tall and is 3/4" (18 mm) wide. The reverse reads, "WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS."
