Front Description
Mensa, the High IQ Society, was formed in 1946. This year, the 60th Anniversary, had a Convention at the Coronado Springs Hotel from August 8 through August 13, 2006. It was called the MENSA World Gathering 2006, and more than 2,300 people from more than 40 countries registered.
Each attendee was given a special pin when registering. The pin is about 1-3/4 inches high and about 1-1/2 inches wide. The leftover pins which were not given as registration gifts were sold for $5.00 each.
The pin shows Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy taking the Mensa Admission Test. You can see Goofy holding a paper that says "Mensa WG06" and staring at Mickey's test, Donald holding up a test and also looking at Mickey's test, and Mickey at a desk holding a pencil and complaining about both looking at his test. At the bottom it says "at Walt Disney World".
The pin did not come on a card, only in a clear plastic bag that said "Made In China". The logo was designed by Brian Blackmore of the Disney Design Group. This was also used on Mugs and T-Shirts which were available to attendees. On the original logo where the pin says "Mensa" was the word "Test". The name Mensa shows up on the front of Mickey's desk under his hands. Brian said he does not know why they changed it on the pin, but the T-Shirt and Mug (and the cover of the June 2006 Mensa Bulletin) were correct.
