The authorized pin has been officialy released at DLRP on Saturday 17th February 2007 as this was the "gift" given during the Nightmare Before Christmas Event.

The difference is subtle between the authentic and counterfeit and if you put both pins next to each other you'll notice that the real pin is more golden than the counterfeit.
The contours, the characters, everything as a more golden feeling while the bootleg would be more silver/grayish.
