PP53456    McClatchy Newspapers 30 Year Service Pin (Art by Walt Disney)

Front Description

Straight from the Disney Archives, my inquiry in regards to this pin produced this information. "Back in 1943, Walt Disney was asked by the publishers of the McClatchy Newspapers to create a logo or mascot for their three "Bee" papers -- the Modesto Bee, the Fresno Bee, and the Sacramento Bee. The result was the little guy on your pin, nicknamed "Scoopy". As far as we know, the Bees still use Scoopy on their mastheads."

This pin represents a 30 year service award pin, made of 4.7 grams of 14k Gold, with a small diamond stud as shown in the photo. Pin measures 16mm wide by 20mm tall.
