One of 15 open-edition pins from the MICKEY'S MYSTERY PIN MACHINE puzzle mystery sets. There were three sets, each comprising five pins: Disney/Pixar, Pirates of the Caribbean, and FAB 5. Originally, the pins were only available in the game machines (randomly awarded). At some later date, they became PWPs of $1 for every $30 spent at select Disney locations.

This diamond-shaped pin features Mike Wazowski and Sulley from Disney/Pixar's animated MONSTERS INC, on a blue background. Mike is waving, and Sulley has his arm around Mike, both with big smiles on their faces. The background is light blue. The left and right corners have purple borders, the top and bottom teal.

Mickey's Mystery Pin Machine was a game that cost $5 to play. You started with a pinball-style ball at the bottom of a mountain and had to raise the ball to the top by manipulating the handles on the side of the machine. You were allowed to try three times to win the pin, but your play time ceased the minute you won the game. Not to worry, though, because every player got a random pin, whether or not they won! The pins came, sealed in a plastic bag, in a gumball-machine plastic container which included one pin and a folded paper flyer showing all 15 designs.

"Mickey's Mystery Pin Machine is something we have never done before," said Steven Miller, Project Manager for Disney Pin Trading, prior to release of the machines. "We've learned that Guests enjoy having fun with pins and enjoy the thrill of a good mystery. This machine combines the best of both worlds, ultimately giving Guests an excellent, valued-priced Disney pin to collect or trade."

The first machine appeared on 6 Sep 2007 at MouseGear in EPCOT, the second at Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. Additional machines were introduced at the following locations in the following weeks: Tomorrowland Arcade in Magic Kingdom; Sorcerer's Hat Shop in Disney-MGM Studios, and Everything Pop! in Disney's Pop Century Resort.

Characters in this set include Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Mike and Sulley from Monsters Inc, Lightning McQueen from Cars, Nemo and Squirt from Finding Nemo, and Mr Incredible from The Incredibles.
