Front Description
The 12-pin MAIN STREET GAZETTE: HERE'S THE SCOOP! pin-of-the-month series was released at WDW around the first of each month throughout 2008. The series features Mickey disguised as Scoop Sanderson, Magic Kingdom's Main Street Gazette reporter, experiencing classic Walt Disney World attractions. Each shaped pin contains a pin-on-pin element. The backs of the backer cards, printed to look like newsprint paper, share fun facts or trivia about each ride, as reported by Scoop. Chris Chapman from Disney Design Group created the artwork for this pin.
In this January pin (first of the series), Scoop reports from the jail cell at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Magic Kingdom. Scoop is taking notes, as he passes the Jailer Dog that's holding the prison keys in his mouth. The ride car (boat) is a pin-on-pin element that pivots (in a rocking motion).
From the front of the card: THE SCOOP -- Disney Made It a Pirate's Life for Me . . . and for You!
From the back of the card: WALT BROUGHT PIRATES TO LIFE. Walt Disney first brought pirates to life on the silver screen with his first live-action film, Treasure Island. He then found a way for us to ride into pirate action with Disneyland Resort's Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. It was the last attraction personally supervised by Walt Disney, and it was such a hit that the Walt Disney World Resort opened its version of this classic attration in 1973. That's the scoop!
Rides in the series include Haunted Mansion, Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror, Mission: SPACE, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Star Tours, It's a Small World, Test Track, Soarin, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Kilimanjaro Safaris.
