MARGARETE was the name given to one of Steiff's event-exclusive teddy bears which was released at Disney's Teddy Bear & Doll Weekend (held on 8-9 Nov 2002 at EPCOT). Margarete (named for the woman who founded Steiff) stands a proud 12" tall, has jointed arms and legs, and wears an empty shoulder bag embroidered with the 100 YEARS STEIFF TEDDY BEARS logo. Margarete's fur is a 65% wool/35% cotton mohair blend, and the Steiff button is on her left ear. The majority of these bears has been signed (on the foot) by "Tweed Roosevelt", great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt and family historian. Margarete came with one removable pin which features her image and name. A special event pin (Mickey decorating a Christmas tree) was given to you with the purchase of a bear or doll at the show, but it was not part of the original bear set.
