Front Description
Pin shows Mickey and Minnie arriving at the premiere of "Mickey's Gala Premiere" (as lettered on the theater marquee of the cel). The pin is grey, black and white. Mickey is wearing a tuxedo with tails; has his right arm around Minnie's left arm; and is holding his black top hat in the air with his right hand. Minnie is wearing an floor-length evening gown and is waving to the admiring crowd with her right hand (diva-style). The upper left of the pin is a partial circle with "2007" (top line); "Gala" (2nd line); and "Premiere" (bottom line) written in black letters. The lower left of the partial circle has "Animation Gallery" written in the white border. I have no information about the pin back, as it is sealed within the frame with the cel. The cel I purchased has the pin in the lower right corner and in the lower left corner is a card picturing the cel and signed by the artists and inkers.
A note about the cel: Several Disney characters are shown waving and cheering Mickey and Minnie as they arrive at the theater. These characters include Pluto, an early version of Donald, Clara Cluck, Mickey's nephews, Horace Horsecollar and Mortimer Mouse (from the cartoon "Mickey's Rival" (1936). Also standing in the crowd on the right side cheering them is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. An animator at Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney's HOLLYWOOD Studios) animation galley told me that the Disney Company has now obtained the rights to Oswald and this is the first time Disney has used his image since Walt lost his contract with Charles Mintz in early 1928.
