Very early pin of Dopey from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He is holding a candle stick (with a lit candle) in his left hand.
This pin appears to be made of celluloid (one of the earliest plastics) and probably dates from the late 1930s or 1940s (the movie was released in 1937). I have seen somewhat similar pins of this apparent vintage which had paper labels specifically identifying them as Disney products; those labels tended to come off very easily as the adhesive dried out after many years. The pin mechanism is stamped "Japan."
Dopey is about 1 5/8" tall x 7/8" wide.
