PP71366    WDW - Tyranosaurus (T-Rex) from Dinosaur Series

Front Description

The mighty T-Rex (or Tyranosaurus) is one of at least seven pins released at Walt Disney World. Believed to have been sold outside the original Countdown to Extinction ride in Animal Kingdom, as all the dinos in the series are part of the ride. An older pin found on the smaller 1 3/4" by 2 1/4" black sale display cards.

The dinosaur faces left, a true profile of the animal, mouth open, teeth showing as if in the middle of a roar. T-Rex is is moss green.

The pin as shown measures 1 1/2" (38 mm) wide by 7/8" (23 mm) tall. As with all the pins in this series, the backstamp is, "© PINS AND THINGS, Phone number, China." (Information from contacting Pins and Things reveals that the company is still used by Disney for pins, though they now use the Disney copyright on the back of the pins they supply.)

Tyranosaurus was a carnivorous dino found in North America during the Upper Cretaceous Period. It could reach a size of 40' long and up to 6 tons in weight. Name means "tyrant lizard." Tyrannosaurus is an alternative spelling.
